WDGC 2022 Bag Tag Finale Saturday Dec 17th

Greg Johnson

Hello club members,

Jeff or Alex please repost this on FB.

After talking with Jeff Roth during a glow round this week, we have decided to run season ending club event at my Blodgett Woods course, similar to what we did last year.  We are going to have it on Saturday to be similar to the recent league schedule. All 2022 club members and league participants are welcome. The event will not be limited to bag tag members, but please bring your tags if you have them

I have updated the placeholder event that has been out on discgolfscene. There will be no pre-registration, but please go to the link for more details about the event. This will be a pot luck of sorts, so please plan to bring something to share if you are so inclined.

The Blodgett Woods course is set up with accurate mapping on U-disc. The course is in great shape. I have it cleaned up from the recent storm but the giant maple leaves are still raining down. I got 16 out of 18 basket trays powder coated orange over the summer to increase visibility. Let me know if you or a group want to come out and get a round in the weeks ahead.
I will wait to set up the portable toilet again until the week before the event in Dec.

Cheers,

Greg Johnson

Hey all, I am afraid I can't make it again tonight. I'm sorry I haven't contributed much as co-grounds kepper,  with Loni doing all the coordination. I am happy to keep dumping wood chips as needed and jump on any tree work or chipping the city doesn't want to do but don't really feel I am living up to the duties of an officer and think it's better to call it like it is an give Loni the full title of grounds keeper at Willamette.  I'll join when I can but clearly that hasn't been every month recently.
Thanks for all your dedication everybody,
Malcolm

You join a small and distinguished cadre of people who have put their hearts and souls into making Disc Golf in our area the very good experience that it is! You belong in the mid valley Disc Golf Hall of Fame! I would not feel bad about not inspiring lots of others to take responsibility for maintaining the course. That is a structural reality that has been present since the beginning of Disc Golf. Thank you for your service to our club and to our sport! I hope you have lots of fun playing disc golf free from the burden of leadership.

We had only made it maybe 1/3 of the way to my long-term goals, but I believe my being out of the picture is the right thing to do for the future of the club.

I poured my heart, soul, and a ton of time and energy into this effort. I am thankful that I got this opportunity, and there have been some great accomplishments, but I am failing miserably at getting help. I am quite proud of putting together the tee sign and basket replacement projects, as examples. I am happy to receive continuous feedback that the club profile has grown immensely inside and even well outside the area; We are known to be a club that gets things done and runs a good show. And yet, the things I could not accomplish are growing the club membership, building a volunteer base, and fostering relationships with sponsors and higher-level players. The club membership is not growing and the volunteer base is nearly nonexistent. I do not get nearly enough support in day-to-day activities or events. I am to blame but I both cannot and will not continue to do all this primarily alone. Due to it, I am almost constantly feeling stressed and irritable and have lost my chill. My passion for volunteering is used up and I have run out of desire to continue the struggle. It is time to turn it over to someone else that has the necessary people skills to take the club to the next level.

I do not know what my future holds. I will do the best I can to remember my successes and not dwell on the failure. I expect that I may continue to run some future events under different circumstances. In the meantime, a copious amount of recreational disc golf is in my future as I attempt to relocate my Zen. Maybe I'll see you out on a course somewhere.

Sorry to hear it!…I’ve not been an active player or involved at all for close to 5 years…I helped where I could with new tee pads at both courses and the work party’s and was always surprised by how few players felt like they wanted to give something back to the club!  You have put out many times your fair share to the cause and need feel no regrets at letting go of something that will suck you dry…It’s somebody else’s turn!
Thanks for what you did do and feel free to play for the next 100 years or so with no guilt!

Benton County Parks Department Survey | Adair County Park Usage

Alex Peters

I shared this on Facebook yesterday, but I wanted to put it out here for Non-Facebook users. I'm sorry for the extra email if you're a Facebook user that has already seen this.

If you have been to Adair recently, you may have noticed the postings at the Tee of Hole 1, and at the kiosk in the parking lot. Benton County Parks is seeking feed back from park users about how often they use the space, what they use it for, and what developments they would like to see in the future. The survey takes less than 5 minutes to complete, and this is your chance to have your voice as a disc golfer represented in the future development of Adair County Park. Visit https://bit.ly/adairpark to be redirected to the SurveyMonkey

The county has been in communication with our club officers about the development plan for a while now, and they have already expressed that we will be included as the plans form.
This is where that starts.

If you haven't already, please take a few minutes to let them know how frequently you use the park, what you use it for, and what you would like to see at Adair in the future! They really do want to hear our feedback, they've actually been trying to survey us rascally disc golfers for a while now, but unfortunately our weekly events don't generally line up around County business hours.

Thank you!!

Good morning all,
Happy September!

We've discussed privately, and 4 of our 6 club officers are unable to attend our scheduled meeting on Monday the 12th. We've agreed it doesn't make much sense to push the meeting out to the 19th, only to meet again two weeks later.

Enjoy the final weeks of Summer, and we'll plan to talk again on Monday, October 3rd.
