Willamette work party

kineticbagel@...

Hi all,
I need supervisors for a large group of volunteers at Willamette next Thursday from 12-2pm.
I know it's a bad time.
Take a long lunch, get your 2 hours of HP community service, blow Mike off, but come on out.
There will be about 60 volunteers.
Send me an email or text if you can make it. If you can't make it, you don't need to say so.

Willamette work party

kineticbagel@...

Hi all,
I need supervisors for a large group of volunteers coming out to work next Thursday the 17th from 12-2pm. I see this conflicts with Mikes LBCC request. I know the time frame is difficult for most, and it's just Willamette...but...If you can take a long lunch or get your 2 hours of community service credit from HP, then come on out!
There was just Billy ( who looks to be helping Mike at LBCC next Thursday) and myself and 99 volunteers to represent the club last month. There will be close to 60 volunteers this time.
Please send me an email or text if you can make it. If you can't make it, there is no need to say so.
Sign up early, sign up often!

LBCC In-Service Disc Golf Clinic

Mike Storrs

A few of you were interested in assisting me next week during an LBCC Disc Golf Clinic. Here is more information about the event.

It will be part of a slate of different workshops available to the faculty during their day of in-service, Thursday April 17. I guess the disc golf is seen as sort of a team builder event. The workshops are all slated to run in 3 different time slots: 12:45-1:35, 1:45-2:35, and 2:45-4 pm and I expect to see an influx of people during the beginning of those times. I plan on allowing anyone with skills who wishes to just go out and play to head out when they arrive. Others will need some time learning basic techniques about throwing a disc. We have a selection of mid-ranges and putters for participants to use but I plan on bringing a few extras from my own stash. The course is mid-range disc length and 9 tone poles. It starts at the entrance to the gym  in the SW parking lot near the baseball field. The course then plays out around the baseball field and the track.

Please respond to this or email me at storrsm@... if you plan on helping. I will be out there the night before setting up signs and other markings.

This will be an excellent opportunity to expand disc golf to more of the over 40 crowd. Some of them are single...

I'm no longer the Adair Greenskeeper, that mantle was passed first to
Jay Sexton, and then to Nate Sexton, and while I DID help with the
labor of pushing that hole into the woods, it was all Nate that pushed
the idea and organized it (as well as the extensions to holes 4 and 6).

So, the hourly rate for my services has gone up significantly.
However, you're spot-on about Craig Banner...

Now that I've relocated to the northwest from Georgia I'd like to seek approval from the WDGC to have a very casual 1-round tournament on Sunday Aug. 31st from 10am-2pm before the Squirrels Tavern kicks off their 40th anniversary party at Adair. I ran the disc golf tournament for the 35th and 37th parties but would scale it down and make it more casual this time around.

I envision 18 holes 1 round:
$5 pay in.....all goes toward payout for divisions.
$10 optional Champion-Innova disc with Squirrels custom stamp.  100 will be ordered, making them very rare and collector items for archeologists to dig up at burial sites! Priority of discs goes toward people who have a ticket to the party.

Anyway, flyers would go around town promoting Squirrels, Downward Dog, Calapooia and WDGC, ultimately to bring in more people to the party.

Details can be worked out this summer. however I wanted to plant the seed this far in advance.

Re: Looking for Oregon disc's

Greg Johnson

Hey Pat,

That's great enthusiasm.  You would be amazed how many courses are sprouting up around Salem!  I helped put the Willamette Park and Adair courses in over 10 years ago in the Corvallis area and have run tournaments for 15 years.  I have quite a collection of tournament discs but no time soon to evaluate what I'm willing to part with.  I do know a couple of club members that are looking to sell some discs and I'm sure they have some tourney stamped discs that they would be willing to part with.  I'm copying our club yahoogroups message board.

Best regards,

Greg Johnson

If you have a way to get me any info on disc's for sale, anything used, New all I care about is that they are tournament or event disc's. Thanks for any info you can provide. Thanks again for you time. . PATRICK

Yep, meeting is at SEVEN PM tonight (and through the rest of the summer).
I've edited the event calendar on Yahoo, so the rest of the notices
from here until the end of DST will state the correct time.

Thanks for the reminder, Greg!
