This Saturday's Willamette Spruce Up (Work/Reward Party)

John W. Ross <johnr414@...>

Be advised that parking may be at a premium next to the course as there is a Champions de salud event that starts at 10 a.m.

I'm thinking there will be space in and around the old campground on the left just after dropping off on the gravel entrance to the park. Most of us know where that is.

Most of us also know how to walk a little to the worksite and find parking almost completely without guidance, I'm thinking.

See you there. The beer (which can't legally be consumed on the premises) is on ice as I speak.

Special note to Jay Sexton to follow.

I know Craig would be honored--especially if there was a couple of beers in the bargain. (Which I just happen to have, actually)

Point taken. I'm definitely in the hunt for high traction, rough, tough bricks, field tested by Greg or any other klutz you can remember.

Re: Bricks and Sand

What I like about it is simplicity, time efficient and fairly cheap.

Don't know how cheap, compared to concreting them in.

I'll set one up today or tomorrow to check out.

Any other inputs from club members would be welcome. It's also important if somebody can find a cheaper stash of used bricks (that wouldn't be to slippery, though it's not part of the run up.)

I'll get non slip bricks.

One's I've got have five holes, which should provide for drainage.

But we're only going to try some first. They ain't cheap at Habitat at 75 cents each. We need about a hundred of them at CLUB EXPENSE.

Got any other ideas?

Hanging with this weekend and next for the workparty.

The incentives are right. The moon and stars are aligned and we got to get to it.

See you out there.

Gregg and I are going to try bricks in the tee pad box ends. RSVP on that

Re: Willamette Work Party Next two Saturdays

I'll check them tomorrow and put that on the list.

Chipping's probably not in the cards, but the work party should be able to get them and all other in-play branches to some "wildlife corridor" area. To me, that means off the course pathways so they don't either encourage litterers to conceal their dirty little secrets or encourage blackberry, poison oak or invasive English Hawthorn.

Or that discourage parks from mowing.

Thanks for the tip. Full workparty list to follow.
