Hey all,
Let's shoot for 10am tomorrow (Monday).  Richard, let me know in advance how many Peaveys you've rounded up and I'll try to match drivers to the tools.

Sweet Jay!
Yeah, I could do Monday morning after I take kids to school.  9AM or so?  Whatever works for you.

the appeal to the SouthTown list serve came up with a peavey as well.  Let me know when you need it and I'll pick it up and deliver.

Bill,

I've sent out a query about borrowing a peavey or two to the South Town list serve.  It would be something if we could move the Southtown community into helping us with the course.

Is a peavey something that the City is likely to have?  I'm guessing that they would loan us one or more if they have it.

As for the Tunison Center. I don't know about the sitting in chairs without tables. Didn't work very well for me but there were plenty of other tables to set up if I had got there earlier and actually remembered to drive my vehicle with the club discs in it.

But, these days, I find most acoustics horrible. Sounds just seemed

Re: Testing - but not a test - Membership Renewals?

Richard Hervey

Thank you Everett and Greg for getting the ball rolling regarding how Tunison worked as a meeting space.

1) I noted that it had a very fast Wifi connection - something we might find useful if we expand what we do in meetings.
2) I noted that we were next to a park, which would allow events associated with meetings much of the year.
3) While the space was on the big side for our numbers, that space could be used for some mini event before and after meetings.
4) We were able to work out issues with alcohol and pizza.
5) The City has agreed to make it available for free.

As for :
A) Lack of tables - that was intentional on my part.  My limited experience of club meetings is that they are filled with side conversations often on separate topics, slowing progress toward completion of the specified topic.  Eventually, I'd love to get us into meeting in a circle chair arrangement, where those conversations feel impolite (which I believe they already are) and are difficult to conduct - producing more effective meetings.  [[My hope is that folks would get into coming early or staying late to conduct those side conversations.]]

B) Acoustics - I concur that they were not great.  Yet, I have conducted meetings with 67 and 100+ people in that space and people were heard. The ability to hear certainly would have been better had I not employed a projector.  [[Were we meeting in a circle, I suspect this comment would not have carried this weight.]]  In comparison to Woodstocks, I find it surprising that Everett considers the acoustics HORRIBLE.

C) I note that Aric was able to attend and stay for the whole meeting.

Which was why I proposed a "two-month grace period" at the beginning
of the year, effectively shifting our "membership period" from
March 1 to Feb 28/29.  We wouldn't TELL anyone that was when
membership rolled over, we still say Jan 1 to Dec 31, but it would
give us a two month period at the beginning of the year when we
would still have an active voting quorum, during which we could
hound members for their renewals.

The table situation is fixable, but with my "hearing deficit," I
found the acoustics HORRIBLE.  You, John Ross, and Shawn Berry were
the only ones I could understand well.  I had a REAL hard time
understanding Richard and Sean.

I'm in the process of moving the old Yahoo group over to Groups.io
(a VERY similar service, but much better and constantly being
maintained and updated, unlike Yahoo). So this will be the last
time you get goofy notices from Yahoo Groups. (Yahoo stopped
supporting and updating Yahoo Groups some time in 2014.)

Once the move of the group to Groups.io happens, everyone who was
a member of the Yahoo Group (and who's email address is still valid)
will receive a 'welcome' message from the Groups.io group, telling
where and how to change your settings, send messages, and/or
unsubscribe should you want to.

I've already put most of the stuff from my WDGC web page onto the
Groups.io Wiki, and will be retiring my WDGC web page soon, too.

I'm hoping that the messages and members from the Yahoo Group will
get transfered sometime this week, but time will tell.
