Glad to see that because it is now full! See you out there.

Would love to talk to Toni about the female numbers if she has time and ideas. I've tried all manner of things to no avail, but I'm still a dude no matter what and I think that is part of the issue. I have some more ideas of how I can support it but I think it will take females leading to make it happen.

I did vote. I was impressed with all of the candidates and briefly discussed it with Nate after I sent in my vote.  Mi choices were Dion and the African fellow who seemed to be doing well bringing the sport to Africa.

3 Weeks Left To Vote In The PDGA Elections

Check your email and help us break participation records

Well, PDGA members, we have good news, and we have bad news. Which one do you want first?

Being an optimist, we’ll start with the good news: Just under a week into our 2020 PDGA Board of Directors Elections, 5,369 members have cast ballots to help drive the direction of the organization. We see extra birdies in your future.

The bad news is that we sent ballots to 47,876 members, meaning 42,507 of you are about to experience a Karmatic run of rollaways and double-bogeys if you don’t get those ballots in.

In all seriousness, though, we’d love for you to make sure you’ve received your ballot so you can take part in this year’s elections. Not only is voting a benefit of your annual membership, but it helps ensure you have a say in picking the people who will represent your interests in the sport.

[Corvallis] Save the Date: Parks & Recreation Director Candidate Virtual Meet & Greet

Richard Hervey

Good Morning,

Thought some folks might like to have a say in the hiring of the new City Parks director.  I'm sure that the natural areas advocates will participate.  Would be lovely if the candidates had to field some questions about their support for maintenance of existing disc golf courses and installation of new ones.

Save the Date: Parks & Recreation Director Candidate Virtual Meet & Greet

Calendar Date:
Monday, July 13, 2020 - 8:00am to Tuesday, July 14, 2020 - 5:00pm

The City of Corvallis is hiring a new director for the Parks & Recreation Department. The Corvallis community is invited to review and evaluate the candidates during a virtual meet & greet — similar to what we've done for past recruitments, but conducted online to maintain public health guidelines.

Beginning on July 13, we'll post brief introductory videos from each of the finalists for the community to review, as well as a short survey to gather feedback on the candidates. The materials will be available at www.corvallisoregon.gov/prdirector.

The videos and follow-up survey will be available from 8 a.m. Monday, July 13 through 5 p.m. Tuesday, July 14.

We look forward to meeting the Parks & Recreation director candidates!

Willamette Open, July meeting

Robert Voss

Hello disc folks,

Let's have the July meeting since we will have just had the delayed dubs tournament the day before and now also have The Open planned. I'll need to order discs for The Open by then. We'll do it outside since it is nice. Meet at Willamette Park shelter area at 7 PM.

Good news: the Willamette Open is going forward as a C-tier at Willamette Park on August 15 and 16. Registration will go live tonight! We have $300 added cash for pros, and 2 Discraft discs and a shirt player packs for amateurs! Pros will have the option to buy a shirt for $12.

All ams will get 150% entry value from the player pack (almost 2x PDGA requirement) so no payouts are planned. There will be at least one CTP for each amateur division and then we will see where the budget shakes out. Maybe more CTP in bigger divisions. The club does not make money from tournaments, so it will go out as gift cards for some kind of prizes if there is money left.

- AMATEURS, YOU ONLY HAVE UNTIL JULY 12 TO GUARANTEE YOUR DISC SELECTION! After that you will get to select from what is available.

- We have until August 1 to guarantee shirt sizes. After that you will get to select from what is available.

Some informational highlights: Online registration only, tee times, quick walk-by check-in with player packs bundled ahead of time, live scoring with paper backup, online player meeting and awards. COVID-19 social distancing protocols in place, "Just roll with it."

I'm not sure what happened recently beyond the damage reported to one of the new signs at Willamette.
There isn't much going on for any sports these days.  At least we can still play casually.

Robert you have done as good a job as anyone could have in what sometimes feels like a thankless position.  The club in general had lost a lot of traction with declining active membership for a few years, and no one being interested in running sanctioned events. A handful of people do everything for the benefit of the local community that we are part of.

As with recent years we will be lucky to have anyone step up to be President, much less get the club back to hosting sanctioned tournaments, which many local players enjoy.  When we can get back to having them, I look forward to playing in more sanctioned events too.

It seems that in the current environment that we should be able to conduct such business electronically. I am not sure anyone active but you has familiarity with the IO Groups voting, and group administration.

It is time for someone else to step up and be club president and for me to take a step back from the club. I was never the right person for this job. I stepped in and took a job no one else wanted at the time because I didn't want to see the club die, but I don't want to do it anymore.

Now is as good a time as any since there isn't anything going on and hasn't been for a couple months. Next time we can have a meeting we will put in names for nominees and then vote the meeting after. I'll commit to running the couple club PDGA tournaments since I already said I would, if we still want me to, and if we even get to hold them.

I have my reasons is all there is to say about it. Think or say what we will, but it's been 2 years and I put more into it than most anyone else could know. I am okay with it and I only hope for the best for the future for the club.

Regards,

Rob

P.S.
I don't think the bylaws technically allow it and I'm too lazy to look right now, but if the other officers agree then we can go ahead and do it via email. For instance, have folks submit nominations via email in a set period, tally them, and then folks with at least 2 nominations would be put on a virtual ballot that would be emailed to the voting members.
