Saturday would be best for me, as I'll be busy on Sunday, I think.

We may want to hold off on ordering more gravel, since the club's
funds are a bit extended right now. Wood chips have usually been free,
when we can get them.

I'm working on the 29th.  Saturday only works for me.  if sunday is better for everyone, thats cool.  if we can get more folks out on sat., maybe we could find out what time the wedding takes place and try to do it before or after... mornings and evenings are better for work anyway, now that summer is actually here!

I am still looking into the cost of a concrete mixer rental. I think the Sunday might be the better option as I think there is a big wedding Saturday and we wouldn't want to disturb them with our working songs. Discuss!!

WDGC folks,

I cannot attend the WDGC meeting while I am working in Portland but I
would like to urge you to consider and apporve a $300 hole sponsorship for
the Newport Disc Golf Course.

Toni and I met with Alma Baxter from Newport and toured the very raw disc
golf course. She is a new Disc Golf player and the central figure in the
Newport Ford Family Foundation Leadership Training Group - they chose an
18 disc golf course as their class project. Alma is the only person in the
group who new about disc golf. She is interested in getting this course in
the ground and then moving on to trying to get more courses along the
coast. It is important that we support this ambitious project.

The course is on land near the Community College in Newport - it is south
of the bridge about a half a mile and interior of Hwy 101. It is located
on timber company land which is being leased by the city of Newport for 15
years. The land is in coastal spruce forest with some elevational relief -
in the form of gullies that create some interesting and visual challenges.
The course is technical with lots of trees, and over time this will be
fine tuned to create adequate fairways. One of the leadership group
members has a earthmoving company and will be working on the course with
bulldozers and heavy equipment. Once the group has raised the money with
the hole sponsorships they will be matched with $5000 from the Ford Family
Foundation.

Toni and I were impressed with the course layout - a fellow from St.
Louis, newly moved to Oregon, whose name is slipping my mind, toured the
course with us. He had been involved in the design. Most holes are 180 to
350 feet and technical. One open hole may come in at about 600 feet.
Several holes have interesting throws across ravines. I look forward to
playing this course once it is installed.

As soon as they have gathered the 18 hole sponsorships they will order the
baskets. They presently have 15 sponsorship committments, and Toni, Nate,
Colin, Brianna, and I plan on doing one hole ourselves. The Newport DG
group would like to complete their sponsorships by July 10th and they
accept verbal committments.

Tees will be either gravel pads or concrete panels which might be moved by
heavy equipment. The course may be modified over time as logging
activities dictate - but the location near the community college and the
15 year lease should make this rare.

Attached is the initial map. Let me know if the WDGC approves this and I
will let Alma know.

Found Disc Return

caloch4

Hi folks.  I got a call from a gentleman named Ryan on a disc I lost at Adair a few months! ago.  I asked him to return it to a club member and mentioned a few names of some of you who know me and see me at tournaments a few times a year, and he agreed to do so, and said he knew the "club boys".  He specifically mentioned KC, and really emphasized "boys".....I dunno.

Anyway, I thank you in advance if he hands it off to you and you are willing to hold on to it for me until the Calapooia, or the EC or the WO and help it get back to me.  I think some Eugene guys will be at the Wash too, if it turns up real soon.  If you throw this guy a few bucks or a beer I will gladly pay you back!  Thanks!

Handicap League historical raw scores

Mike Storrs

I thought someone besides myself might have some fun with excel. I have all of your scores in a spreadsheet from 2008 to now. The rounds are ranked best to worst so the data looks like a horizontal bar chart. I use open office (libre office) but I know most of you use excel so I uploaded both versions of the file. I can't attach the file because I am using the yahoo groups message page (I know many of you just get this crap in your email...everyday) so below is the link to the files. If you can view it you want to look at the tab titled "sorted rounds."

Some interesting tidbits
1. I have 231 rounds, KC has 195, Key has 193, and Greg Johnson has 19
2. Mike Gibson once shot a 49 which also matches Colin Sexton's best round
3. KC's once shot a 47 which also matches Dion's best round
4. Nate shot a 42...twice. (and 45 thrice, and 46 thrice, and 47 eightice)
5. For players with at least 20 rounds only 7 have a standard deviation of less than 3 strokes. In order I have Kevin Allen, John Ross, Jason Hill, Eric Smith, Jeff Huebner, Nate Sexton, and Bob Burton. Yup, those guys manage their rounds very well.

Take a look if you can.

Mike Storrs

The Wash!!

Eric Smith

Hello Everyone,

The Wash is less than 2 weeks away and things are looking great! I have some fantastic raffle prizes with a full size practice basket a mini basket a ukulele a box of dog goodies and several large gift certificates. Along with those, I have the usual number of prizes for the random drawing guarantying that everyone wins something.

Again, my family is stepping up to do the cooking and we will have burgers, sun burgers, hot dogs, etc. Yes my mom’s potato salad will be there again too!

The Susy Stix competition chatter has started to heat up. Better pick a partner, the competition is going to be fierce this year.

Remember I have a Linn Benton Food Share stamped Roc or Aviar putter for the first 50 golfers to sign up in the morning.

If you are on the fence about coming to this event, ask someone who has been. This is a fun day for a great cause.

Thank you
