Candidate statement Sexton
Jay Sexton
If elected as WDGC president my main goal would be running efficient and
effective meetings of the WDGC, and facilitating respectful WDGC email discussion. I would represent the WDGC in any non-course related discussions with other entities. Course operations discussions will be through the greenskeeper. I would run the Presidents Cup Tourney in a new location in 2013. I would prepare and facilitate a discussion, by interested members of the club, of the advantages and deficits of the current layout of Willamette DG Course, and explore if there are alternative layouts which would be able to gain broad consensus. This would take place in a dedicated meeting - not a normal monthly meeting. I would promote disc golf through Parks programs, WDGC activities, cooperation with other disc golf organizations, and activities which encourage sustainable disc golf play by casual players. I would explore possibilities of leasing land for the establishment of a new disc golf course, though this may require a more formal organization of the WDGC, possibly including non-profit status filing.

Agenda Treasurer's Report Additional items? One item I forgot to include on the Agenda: this week I received a new contract from Corvallis City Parks for use of Willamette Park for the next three years. We need to discuss it and decide what we want to do. This will probably be a small time-sink in the meeting, as it covers the need for insurance, payment/labor-in-kind for the right to have two tournaments and sell discs, etc. Everett ====================================================================== Everett Kaser Software Logic & Puzzle Games for computers PO Box 403 Albany OR 97321-0117 Phone: 541-928-5259 8am-8pm PACIFIC TIME USA http://www.kaser.com ======================================================================

Contested WDGC Presidential elections have been rare.Immediate (non-presidential, private-citizen thoughts). Bullshit. Okay, maybe that's too blunt. :-) The By-Laws call for an election of officers in November. That was delayed to December by a vote of attending members "so that the candidates could put forth their positions and discuss the issues." Fine, I have no problem going along with majority rule. In the past month, there's been ONE post regarding the presidential election (your lengthy treatise which I'm still struggling to translate into Oregonish). Putting on my presidential hat, I'm happy to take a straw-poll show-of-hands at the beginning of the meeting to so see whether a majority would like to spend time listening to the two candidates debate. If that's what everyone wants to do, I certainly won't stand in the way, as this club runs predominantly as a democracy. However, we have several important issues to discuss at this meeting. Re: Format for 2013 Presidential Election
Eric Smith
John, You are certainly welcome to propose this at the meeting and if seconded, we can discuss and then vote on it. I’m glad Jay stepped up to be President again because the empty chair I was going to nominate (although having a sound platform) would never be able to talk for 20 minutes. I would suggest that we have a vote for president and if it is a perfect 50/50 split, THEN we go in to discussions. After all, this is a disc golf club, not congress.

Contested WDGC Presidential elections have been rare. Certainly discussions of positions, credentials, approaches or the like have been non existent in club history to my knowledge.
I would like to see that happen this round AND for that to take place at the beginning of the December meeting. This would allow it to expand as needed and encourage greater time efficiency on the standing reports that follow.
I am proposing a 20 minute limited session to be extended for specific amounts of time club members willing. Of course it could conclude sooner if we find ourselves with less to say or respond to. A 20 minute period would allow:
Then members would vote by whatever method the President and members prefer.
Everett or a willing volunteer with a watch could keep track of time and signal if we’re about to run over the allocated time.

Ribbon Cutting at Newport DG Course
Jay Sexton
WDGC folks,
The Wilder Disc Golf Course at the Oregon
Coast Community College has been completed by The Ford Institute Leadership
Program (FILP) group in Newport.
On Wednesday, December 5th at 4 PM they will have
a ribbon cutting.
Three of the 18 holes were sponsored by
either the WDGC, or it's individual members.
Because of the light there will not be time after
the ribbon cutting to play an entire round, so if you would like to play - go
early and play and then congratulate them at their ceremony.
Attached is a map: The tees are red with hole
number and the pins are yellow with pin numbers. Last time I was there they were
clearing the paths - it's woodsy, and nice.
Control is the key - and watch your disc till it
stops.
At 3 PM in a meeting room at the OCCC the
leadership group will have a graduation. Toni and I went through this
program in Philomath almost ten years ago. It is an interesting personal
growth and networking process that the Ford Family Foundation (Timber
Philanthropists out of Roseburg) have given to many, many small communities in
Oregon and some edges of other states.
I attached the invitation to the ribbon
cutting.
I also attached a map of the Oregon communities
which have had at least one of these leadership trainings - It is
Amazing!
Enjoy a new coastal attraction!!!

President's Cup almost ready
Thanks to Dave Pittman for assistance, we got all the temp tee-pads
(that we have) in place at Adair, and got ALL 18 tee-signs in place, so it's reasonably easy to play the President's Cup layout at this point. I moved the tee for #8 up the hill about 20 feet, so you can now SEE the #12 fairway and #12's basket, so it's no longer a blind shot and it's a little safer to play. I also moved regular basket #10 to the long left position, so that the temp tee-pad wouldn't interfere with the basket (it's right next to the right-position). Less than 11 days to the tournament! Oh, and also, I've got the tee-sign for regular hole #4. It was lose. I'm going to clean it up, then take it back out with some longer screws and re-attach it, but that might take a few days. Hello from Georgia
Josh Powell <powelloregon@...>
Missing the WDGC experience since I moved out here in June to Athens, GA. We have a world-class 23-hole course with 3 different concrete tee-pads w/ 3 different pin positions. http://www.pdga.com/course_directory/course/sandy-creek-park These guys in Georgia could learn a thing or two with the great organizing you guys have! Enjoy the fact you have two great 18 hole courses for a city the size of Corvallis! Hope to visit Corvallis in the Spring! Josh Powell From: Everett Kaser To: WDGC Sent: Monday, November 26, 2012 12:41 PM Subject: [wdgc] President's Cup preparations As you've probably already been notified, I've uploaded a PDF of the course map for the President's Cup, along with hole-by-hole directions: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/wdgc/files/Tournaments/President%27s%20Cup/PresidentsCup2012Map.pdf I plan to put up hole signs and maybe some of the temp tee-pads tomorrow (Tuesday), and maybe cut a little grass on P.C. holes 6 and 7, and I'll be moving a couple of the baskets back into their needed positions today. Several baskets will need to be moved the day-of, as some baskets are not used in their regular positions, but rather get doubled up on other holes (Basket #3 moves to #4-short, Basket #10 moves to #5-long), and three temp baskets get added for P.C. holes #7, 12 and 15. We won't have enough temp tee pads to cover all of the holes, so I'll be spreading them out where the likelihood of mud-holes is the greatest. Repeated WARNING: if you play the P.C. layout before the day of the tournament, WATCH FOR and YIELD TO regular course players. Several holes are particularly dangerous, such as P.C. #8 which is a blind throw across regular hole #13 to #12 basket, P.C. hole #18 which throws across holes #3 and #2 to #2's basket, and so on. LOTS of opportunities for accidents, and we need to be responsible Disc Citizens. Be careful out there!
