Upcoming Work Parties! | Wednesday 4/27 & Sunday 5/1

Alex Peters

Hey everyone,
Happy Tuesday! I just posted this to the club Facebook page, but I understand we have quite a few members who are non-Facebook users.
We have some upcoming course maintenance needs that we'll be addressing this week, starting as early as tomorrow in preparation for the third and final WDGC Fundraiser #3 at Adair this weekend.

  1. Wednesday, 4/27 (TOMORROW!)
    Adair Park Disc Golf Course
    2:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Bring work gloves, pitchforks, garden rakes.

Greg Johnson will be arriving at 2:00, but if you can make it any time between 2:00 and 6:00 your help will be greatly appreciated!!
Focus is spreading chips in the Woods (Pathway from 9 Tee to 9 Basket) and Oak Grove (Walkouts from 15 Basket to 16 Tee)

  2. Sunday, 5/1
    Willamette Park Disc Golf Course
    9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.

Raffles, giveaways, and food provided (Thanks Robert!!)
Bring work gloves and yard tools if you have them!! (Some will be provided).

Lonnie Drouhard will be directing traffic, most likely plan to meet at the picnic bench by Hole 1.
Feel free to spread chips around the practice basket if you get there early and aren't sure where to start!

I didn't get a lot of help out at Adair yesterday. Plenty of people came out to play and play through the work efforts and Alex knows some of those players saw the posts. While notice was short, due to picking a window of OK weather, there is plenty of notice for Sunday, so hopefully you get more help for the limited 2 hours of work scheduled.

Those of us that did work at Adair yesterday put in about 20 hours combined. In the 1st phase, Kelly Christiansen, Ron Lee & Karen Rassmussen helped me move 4 utility trailer loads of bark chips from the piles by the #11 walkout over to holes 15-17 in the oak grove. Bryce arrived in the middle of that effort and started using his pull cart to move chips to hole 10 and the hole 5 berm placement. Alex arrived a short time after Kelly left & helped finish distribution of the last trailer load. Then we moved to using my power wagon to get 9-10 loads around the berm and out to the woods. We got the walk out path from 5 and the the hole 6 tee box area chipped. The new hole 7 placement got one load. Several loads were used to chip the main path to the right placement on #9. Thank you very much to those that could find some time to help with the maintenance at Adair. We were very productive.

Let me know if anyone wants to use my Stihl weed whacker with burly string trimmer set up Sunday for the work party at Willamette. I'm strongly considering joining some friends for a day trip to Whistlers. Some other club members and disc golfers at large can take a break from playing and work on the Willamette course. I've done plenty at Adair this week, baskets other than 2 temporary pins are in place for the tournament on Saturday and the course is in great shape despite the level of saturation in some areas.
